OSHA Forklift/Powered industrial truck standards require employers to develop and implement training programs based on the general principles of safe truck operation, the types of vehicle(s) being used in the workplace, the hazards of the workplace created by the use of the vehicle(s), and the general safety requirements of the OSHA standard. Training will consist of a combination of formal instruction, practical training , and evaluation of the operator's performance in the workplace [29 CFR 1910.178(l)(2)(ii)].

After successfully completing this course, employees will have a competent understanding of the following:

• Identifying the various kinds of forklifts and their controls
• Discussing the center of gravity and understanding stability
• Explain how to execute a pre-use inspection
• Describe how to safely operate a forklift (including picking up, traveling with, and placing a load)
• Discuss and practically demonstrate how to park, charge/refuel, and perform maintenance
• Describe how to avoid possible Hazards
• And more!
